A city worth observing
Some cities are not visited simply to be seen. They are visited to be truly experienced.
Paris was exactly that kind of place for us. A city where tradition naturally meets the present, and where even everyday places — a pharmacy, a perfumery, a boutique or a shop window — can carry their own signature, atmosphere and story.
During our journey, we looked at the city through the eyes of St. Martin Pharmacia. We observed materials, colours, scents, architecture, the presentation of products, historic storefronts and the subtle details that together create the experience of a space.

Parisian boutiques often feel like more than ordinary retail spaces. The window display, light, materials, objects and the way products are presented come together to create a single visual story.

PHARMACY & HERBALISM
Pharmacie Cotinat
One of the most important stops on our journey was a visit to the traditional Parisian Pharmacie Cotinat, where we had the opportunity to discover the world of herbalism more closely.
It was here that herbalism was introduced to us as a specialised discipline working with medicinal plants, their properties and traditional knowledge that historically existed in close connection with pharmacy.
The visit reminded us that a pharmacy does not have to be merely a place where medicines are dispensed. It can also be a place of knowledge, advice, tradition and thoughtful care for the individual.

Returning to the roots of the apothecary tradition
Plants and natural ingredients stood at the origins of pharmacy and the apothecary craft for centuries.
They were dried, blended, macerated, distilled and transformed into ointments, tinctures, herbal teas and other preparations. Modern pharmacy has naturally evolved far beyond these beginnings, yet traditional knowledge remains an important part of its cultural story.
Our visit to Paris showed us that there does not have to be a sharp boundary between history and the present. Traditional craft, professional knowledge and modern care can exist naturally side by side.
PARIS & PERFUMERY
The world of great perfume houses
Another important thread of our journey was perfumery — its history, craftsmanship and ability to create an entire world around a fragrance.
We visited renowned Parisian perfume houses and observed how they work not only with fragrance itself, but also with architecture, materials, light, packaging and the story of the brand.
In Paris, perfume feels like more than a cosmetic product. It forms part of the culture in much the same way as fashion, gastronomy, architecture or art.

Two worlds with similar roots
At first glance, pharmacy and perfumery may seem like two very different worlds. Historically, however, they are much more closely connected than one might imagine.
Both work with raw materials, plants, extracts, distillation, precision and an understanding of individual substances. Both have their own traditions of craftsmanship, and both have the ability to combine practical function with a sensory experience.
It was precisely at this intersection that the idea of St. Martin Pharmacia began to take shape — creating a place where pharmacy, health, niche perfumery, beauty, history and art could naturally exist side by side.
ART IN PARIS
Art could not be left out
Paris would not have felt complete to us without art. A visit to the Louvre was a natural part of our journey through a city where history, aesthetics and culture appear at almost every turn.
At the Louvre, we once again returned to detail, composition, colour, material and the ability of an object or a space to carry a story across centuries. Art had been part of the world of St. Martin Pharmacia from the very beginning — not as decoration, but as a natural part of the way we perceive beauty, craftsmanship and a cultivated space.

Botany, fragrance and the story of an object
Our encounters with the world of Carrière Frères also showed how naturally botanical inspiration, fragrance, history and the presentation of a product can be brought together.
This ability to create a wider story around a single object was one of the things that interested us most while developing the world of St. Martin Pharmacia.

Not one idea, but countless small observations
We did not return from Paris with one specific model to follow. We returned with countless details.
Old apothecary jars. Wooden drawers and shelves. Paper packaging. The scent of herbs. Glass perfume bottles. Brass details. Historic lettering. Shop windows that felt less like advertising and more like miniature stage sets.
And above all, the conviction that a space can tell a story without constantly having to explain itself.
Observations like these gradually became part of the world surrounding St. Martin Pharmacia.
